Hey, this is my homepage, so I have to say something about myself. Sometimes it is hard to introduce yourself because you know yourself so well that you do not know where to start with. Let me give a try to see what kind of image you have about me through my self-description. I hope that my impression about myself and your impression about me not so different. Here it goes.
Okay my name is Nur Athirah Binti Suhaimi. I am 20 years old. Currently I stay at Bandar Indera Mahkota, Kuantan. I was born on 04 June 1991 at Hospital Tengku Nur Zaharah Kuala Terengganu. I have 5 sibling including me. I am second from them. About myself, I am a person who is positive about every aspect of life. There are many things I like to do, to see and to experience. I like to read, write, think, dream, and i like to talk. Now I am part 3 at Kolej Poly Tech Mara Kuantan. By the way, all the student which is taking ENG276 will be given a task to writing in the blog about any assessment that we done together in public speaking.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
For me since I come into this college, this is the first formal oral presentation that I did and I was very nervous at the day before. So to prevent myself from thinking too much, I have practice for many times.My team also practiced for many times too and as a result I was able to internalized my script which helped to calm my nerves before presentation. I feel that I did better than I expected overall. I tried my best to maintain eye contact with most of the class and my confident is boosted every time I see someone smile or nod. I believe my face for the speech was appropriate that I wasn't going too fast or too slowly and I didn't need to refer to my notes even though I bought them for security reasons. As for the volume of my speech, I have to admit that I was not too sure as I was too engrossed in giving the presentation. But on a brighter note, I was happy that it's all over and I feel it was better to be the first group to present as you can relax and enjoy another group presentation afterwards.
INFORMATIVE SPEECH
My lecture give me an assignment to be done in 2 weeks. Firstly I need to described myself in front of the audience and I feel so nervous and not too confident with myself. I do breath in and out to get myself calm.I admit embarrassed with an audience and I shy to load my speaker. From this task, I feel that others student will know me better. When I do a movie maker, I need to explain everything about myself, my family, my best friend and others in this informative speech. During speech, I pick certain audience with friendly faces and good attitude in front of class. Beside that I also create and maintain my eye contact with audience and not to static to not makes them bored with my speech. For me I need to act like I confident although I not. Like others student, I also do a mistakes. I will improve my weakness slowly from now to be the best among the others.
PERSUASIVE SPEECH
From this second task, we have divided into several group where is one group consist of two people. My friend, Nur Syafiqah and I need to persuade people to buy our product. Our product are Baju Kurung and Baju Melayu. Our company named is LEYSHA COLLECTION SDN BHD. During this task is caring out, I feel like a sales girl need to promote her product to sell to the customer and got some income from this sales. It is not easy like we see. When we do by our self, we know how hard to get a money everyday. I think I got something to tell in front of them about my product. My product have many benefit from others. The cotton are imported and when customer used our product they will feel different and comfortable with it.
IMPROMPTU SPEECH
For the third task, I had given 5 minutes to tell everything about my topic. My topic is "what is the best thing you do when you in the last day of class". At first as usual, I feel nervous and shy but then I still tell them I feel too happy because the day is the last day of class. I don't need to wake up early like anymore after that day for 2 month. When I in class for the last day, I will not focus on class but I will focus outside the class. In my head, I just think it is heaven when the time of school holiday. And as a matured student, I think I have been perform well when my lecturer give me this topic and I am satisfied with my performance.
FORUM
For this task, our lecturer ask us to do a forum. The title of the forum is Baby Dumping which is current issues in this country. We are given only 1 week to be prepared and I was too excited about this topic. My group and I have been prepared early and when we are perform, we don't have a problem and the forum is successful with 20 minutes one group. I also enjoy with my group because they are very full of cooperation person and I love this moment so much. With forum, I think I can be be more brave and can help us for communicate with other people outside especially when we are been invited to an events like tv show's.
GROUP DISCUSSION
For this task, I think many of the problems that arise in group discussion result from members who do not have discussion. However, we are still help each other to keep talk and maintain at the topic. When my part to described, i tried my best to descried everything that I know about that topic. For your information, our group is given a topic about some way to create Eco-tourism in our country. Here we are ability to work in a team and always support a point by each other. We also used a good communication skills to got an extra marks from the panel. What I can conclude from this forum is this is the best way to solve the problems around the community.
WRITING BLOG
This task for me quite easy from another task. I just need to do a blog and story about my past when I do presentation in public speaking. Writing blog is my passion and I too happy when lecturer give a task using a blog. I prefer use the blog in do a presentation or task because now days people is too modern and they won't to write in the paper anymore. By using this blog, I also can make it something interested and not too bored when read it. Beside that I can share everything about my dream, my experience and my hope and others.
CONCLUSION
In my conclusion, I can conclude overall of the assessment are improved my skill communication and knowledge in order to deliver, persuade, work as a team and be professional at all the time. Thanks to Madam Hartini because teaching me in this subject. I really appreciated all your tips in public speaking.
